Every year I would visit my family & friends in the UK. This basically became a ritual after I moved back to Cape Town in 2000. Although I had done a bit of traveling during my stay in London, between 1995 & 2000, it was not the same as I did not appreciate it & very much took things for granted. I guess you do when you are young. Now, some may say I have been traveling for quite some time. Well let me tell you, I did not really consider this proper traveling. It felt more like visiting my home away from home. Although I was always excited to spend time with my family & friends, whom I missed very much, but it still did not easy the yearning to see the world & experience different cultures. If I think about it, I have been dreaming about exploring the world from when I was a little girl. While my friends were reading books about teenage romances and such, I was reading about tales of Egyptian mummies, explorers & adventure. So, one may say this desire to explore the world started from a young age. That is basically my backround story in a nutshell.
And so it begins
It has always a dream of mine to travel around the world experiencing new places & cultures. For a long time all it was was a dream until…
So about 3 years ago I was diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer. I would not say, necessarily, that my world came crashing down but it certainly was a shock. What an eye opener! It has been a 3 year journey & now finally I am in remission. I do not want to make this blog about my journey with cancer, but rather my journey after I realised that I wanted to live & live life to the fullest.
The purpose of me doing this blog is to show women from all over the world that they can accomplish anything they want to & set their heart to. Mostly I want women to know that you & you alone are responsible for your own happiness. There is nothing wrong with doing things alone, I think that is the biggest myth we believe. You most certainly can also travel alone & enjoy the experience. My dream is to travel, see the world & learn as much as I can about other cultures. So, I have started on the journey & mostly on my own. As they say, the proof is in the pudding & all that…so, by Jove I shall prove it :-D.
